The Wordsmith: a poem by Greg Kohls

The Wordsmith

Just as a painter

with pallet

and a

sculptor

with clay

poetry

is art.

words

on the

canvas

of

life,

thoughts provoked

from

deep within,

sentence

following

sentence

as a surfer rides

the crest of

a wave,

a virtual

thrill ride

for the

wordsmith;

sometimes

our pick

strikes gold

other times we

strike out.

However, our search

continues

to

find meaning in

what seems meaningless

to find hope

in what

seems

hopeless

until,

once again

we find

the freedom

to express

ourselves.

and in

expressing our-

selves

we

find

ourselves.
